Changing our perception of age in the workplace
We have long been anticipating the impact of an ageing population brought about not just as a result of the post war baby boom generation reaching retirement age but also by the happy fact that we all now enjoy longer and healthier lives. Over the coming 20 years, 77 million people worldwide will reach what we have known as “retirement age” and the over 55’s will be fitter and healthier than they have ever been with a longer life expectancy than ever before. Add to this the expectation of the new generation of retirees that they will continue to enjoy an active and stimulating lifestyle with the financial security to support this through working well into their later years, we are on the cusp of a significant period of social change.
For employers, this presents both an opportunity and a challenge. There is no doubt that the age profile in the workplace will see a dramatic change over the next ten years, with a sharp increase in the numbers of employees over the age of 60 continuing in active and full employment. To respond positively, employers will need to be more proactive in understanding and responding to the needs of an ageing workforce. This will enable them to utilise the valuable skills and experience that is available to them and to support older employees through the transitional stage from work through to retirement and later life leisure.

Facilitated by qualified specialist coaches Jenny Shervell, Jackie Dunn, and Jill Gardner our pre-retirement workshops are designed for people who are thinking about this key transitional stage in their lives and planning for a lifestyle beyond retirement that will meet their changing needs. The workshops offer practical information about the financial and legal aspects of retirement but also encourage individuals to focus on what they want from the next 20-30 years, maintaining their fitness levels, and to plan and prepare for an exciting and fulfilled future.

- Working beyond retirement – what are the options?
- Fulfilling those lifelong dreams
- Health and well-being – taking control
By supporting your older employees who are anticipating this period of change in their lives you are not only showing them that they are valued members of your workforce, but you are beginning that communication process that will help you understand and respond to their changing needs and aspirations and to maximise the contribution they can make to your business during the latter part of their working lives.

Our one day workshops are held at venues in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. Bespoke in house workshops to suit particular requirements can also be arranged by contacting us.
- Course fees £197 per delegate and include all course materials and refreshments and lunch.

Pre-retirement Coaching Programmes
We also offer pre-retirement coaching programmes for individuals and for couples wishing to work together to plan for their future. Tailored to meet individual needs, a series of 3 or 6 coaching sessions with one of our specialist retirement coaches who will work with you to break down the barriers and discover that there is a future beyond retirement that can truly become a reality. With 20 – 30 years of full and active life ahead of you, the opportunities are many and varied and your coach will support you to take the steps now to prepare for this new and exciting stage in your life.
