Jill Smith – HR Consultant
Chartered Fellow CIPD
Jill Smith is a CIPD qualified professional and became a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD in 2003. She has worked at senior and director level in a number of multi-national companies.
She has been in business for over thirteen years running her own HR consultancy based in South Hertfordshire, working alongside other talented and knowledgeable associates delivering practical and pragmatic employment advice and guidance, coaching and developing managers primarily within the SME marketplace.
Her background includes Board level experience for the UK subsidiary of an American $6 billion Fortune 500 company, working as a Lay Member of the Trustee Board of Watford YMCA and sitting on the Board of a number of smaller SMEs.
She has extensive experience within a variety of business sectors – including voice/datacoms (manufacturers, resellers and distributors), financial services, marketing and design services, mail order/retail, printing/publishing and the charity sector.
Jill has counselling and coaching qualifications and is currently taking a Diploma in Small Business Coaching. She has also undertaken a range of courses at the Institute of Directors including: Role of the Director and the Board, Finance for Non-Financial Directors, Strategic Business Direction. Jill has had training in the role of a Trustee and Corporate Governance. She enjoys assisting organisations with its business and organisational strategy with a particular emphasis on people strategy.
Jill’s areas of expertise covers business coaching, individual coaching/mentoring, management and leadership development, career management, HR services (including hr strategy, organisational development and performance management).
In relation to developing managers, Jill has worked with Partners in Management Training as a co-tutor on various management development programmes for Deloitte and Touche, Butterworth Tolley, Direct Wines, Informa Professional and Business Management Services. Jill has also designed and delivered one-day workshops covering a range of management skills for SMEs.
Jill is passionate about helping companies provide the best working environment in which their employees can grow and develop to be the best they can be. Thereby, creating successful, profitable and happy companies where people enjoy delivering high levels of performance and where customers return again and again.
Jill, acting in a voluntary capacity, was Chickenshed’s external HR adviser for 10 years and is still a great supporter of this wonderful company. She is also involved with her local Alzheimer’s Society in relation to fundraising activities and is currently helping with the recruitment of a new fundraising team.
Together with associate HR consultant Jenny Shervell, Jill is currently developing a workshop programme for HR Professionals based in Hertfordshire and the home counties designed to provide support, advice and a nurturing environment for HR practitioners to equip them with the tools, skills, confidence and self-awareness to allow them to make a strong positive contribution to the growth and development of people within organisations, creating the conditions for them to become the best they can be.
