Jenny is an Economics graduate and CIPD qualified HR professional with extensive generalist experience within the pharmaceutical manufacturing, distribution and IT sectors having worked in senior HR roles across these sectors over a period of 25 years as well as several years working within the public sector (NHS) during a period of unprecedented organisational change. More recently, her primary focus has been within the private sector where she has set up and led effective strategic and operational HR support functions within two Hertfordshire based PLC companies, working alongside PLC Board Directors.
Jenny established JS Consultancy Services based in north Hertfordshire in January 2008 and works with start-up, micro-businesses as well as larger SME companies supporting them in a range of HR training and coaching activities. Jenny’s approach with her clients is to gain a thorough understanding of individual business needs in order to provide appropriate practical solutions for clients whilst ensuring compliance and best practice is observed.
Jenny has thorough detailed knowledge of employment law and its practical application and has developed and implemented bespoke HR policies and procedures for a number of clients. Jenny believes it is crucial to provide a sound infrastructure in order that businesses can grow and develop through positive management and development of their people. Performance management and disputes resolution are two key areas in which Jenny has considerable experience and provides clients with practical options to resolve employment issues whilst ensuring the risk of costly and time consuming litigation is minimised.
Jenny has extensive experience in the development of management training programmes including communications and performance review training and has also designed and successfully implemented competency based performance review (appraisal) systems within two SME businesses. In addition she has put in place effective absence management systems and developed line management training programmes to support these which has resulted in significant improvement in staff retention and absenteeism levels within a number of companies.
Jenny is highly skilled in change management and her experience includes management of TUPE transfers, harmonisation and integration programmes including compensation and benefits review. Her recent experience includes the management of a large scale redundancy and outplacement programme as part of a major business restructure.
Jenny works alongside a team of highly skilled business associates with whom she has developed a number of specialist training workshops run in the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire area, including the In Business? workshop for small business start-up, and growth, What Next? specifically developed for people approaching retirement and an HR Professionals workshop providing a nurturing environment for HR practitioners to work together to support each other’s development and growth.
A TCA accredited Professional Performance and Business Coach, Jenny is skilled in working with senior executives and management teams to support them in the development of business systems, strategies, skills and behaviours that lead to business success. Jenny is also an appointed mentor for the Hertfordshire branch of the CIPD and a volunteer advisor for the North Hertfordshire Citizens Advice Bureau.
Jenny is also co-founder of the Hertfordshire based Catalyst Business Group which provides support and advice to small business owners and a member of Changes Forever, a membership organisation which provides support and guidance to members through coaching, personal development and business support.
